Sunday Morning July 12, 2009

My Sunday morning started with a call from my son, Brendan. What a treat! Thanks Bren, I love hearing your voice. You asked what I have been up to, and below are the pictures that answer that question. I have been spending my free time out at the Bay Lands practicing my photography. There is a contest I have entered that I need to submit 10 of my favorites to by July 15th. Oh my!!!! Who ever thought it would be so hard to choose? I love doing this. I go out pretty early when there aren't too many people around. I walk out to the dam and then it is time to be still and quiet. There is no real magic to this except quietness and patience. It is a kind of meditation really. The quieter you are, the longer you stay still, the more wild life gets comfortable and comes out of hiding. The pelicans are little clowns , the black cormorants remind me of runway models standing and posing with their wings out to dry, I haven't figured out the name of the little guy with the split tail, but he weaves and soars and is the hardest to capture. The giant egrets are like ballerinas. A bit like watching the SF ballet outside in water!
