Sunday September 28,2008

Well, what a couple of weeks this has been. Work has been really busy and challenging. And I appreciate the peacefulness of our home all the more . We can't really believe that it is almost October . The food is still coming in from the garden, the weather is still beautiful, but the mornings are darker and a little cooler. Not long now before we will be thinking turkey and trees. Geo has been busy getting his new "Let Geogre Do It" business off the ground. We got our fire wood for the winter and it is stacked and ready to go thanks to Geo's energy and strength. George has been getting us ready for fall with some very big jobs like climbing on the roof and cutting back all the wisteria and potato vine. They had completely grown across the entire garage.
We have a very big fat black squirrel who thinks that our back kitchen garden is his personal shopper. He sits out there and eats all our squash and zucchini ,and pumpkins and then sits on the fence like a big fat Buddha and yells at us.......the nerve!!!! I have been having fun with my art, exploring new mediums and ways to combine them. I have a new biography to read about Georgia O'keefe and her husband photographer Stieglitz. Very interest pair!!!!
I am trying not to watch the stock market and reading the news is sporadic at best as there aren't enough good things to balance the bad........
I will be traveling down to AZ to trick or treat with the little guys and hope to have a boat load of new pictures to share after that.

Love you all,

D and G

Working with mixed mediums: charcoal, oil pastel, colored pencil.

Clean cars 2008

This is the definition of a really kind and generous husband. Washing my car early in the AM before I go to work........

Sunday morning breakfast at the Walkers

Sunday at our house starts kind of early. We were both up at five. Sunday calls for an out door fire and a fresh pot of Pete's coffee. Geo is reading Ivan Doig and I am working on a new drawing.
Breakfast is a division of labor with me making coffee, setting the table squeezing the fresh OJ and watching the bread toast over the fire while Geo brings in the fresh produce from the garden and makes the omelet. Yum yum yum!!!!

I woke up this morning and there was one red leaf on our sapien tree. By this time next month it will be completely red. I had to draw it.

mre Set 28, 2008

As you can see from the pictures I have been panting, I seem to be fascinated with roosters lately. It has something to do with our trip to Still Water Cove Ranch and all the wonderful roosters they had running around.

It is almost October and we still have wonderful food coming in from the back kitchen garden. We made some really wonderful salsa from our tomatoes and a recipe from Better Homes Cook Book. Lots of peppers and cilantro and three kinds of tomatoes with red onion and garlic. YUM!
